Whole set of Harbor Freight 44 tool boxes with 26" side....

They line up pretty well....I'm pleased with how this set has turned out...Just a little over OTD.

Smoked my first babyback ribs.....

They turned out great...Maybe the best I have cooked on the smoker yet.  I did the 2-2-1 method. 2 hours straight uncovered....2 hours in a pan covered and then 1 hour uncovered.

Harbor Freight black top 44" cabinet.....

Picked up the top section today...It just fit in the bed of my truck with the camper top still on. It's heavier than I expected it to be....Picking up the rest on Saturday.

Smoked a pork loin bottom roast.....

Odd cut of meat....The bottom was just about all bone and the cook time showed it....5 lbs and almost no fat when I pulled it, but lots of bones. I put it in the smoker at 12:30 after rubbing it down and injecting it with 1/4 cup of apple juice. Smoker around 300 for first hour then down to 250, I started misting it with apple juice once an hour about 4 hours into the cook...I wrapped it in foil  when the temp hit 170 and I had to up the temp back to 290 or so for the last hour and a half to get it to 195. Pulled it off the smoker at 9:30.....Yep 9 hours. Let is sit still wrapped in the foil for an hour and a half before pulling it apart.

I used charcoal, oak, pecan and some cherry wood chips....I got a load of hickory from Daddy for my birthday....Not sure what I'm gonna smoke first with it.

It turned out pretty good although I only had a bite or two when I pulled it, can't wait to dig after church tomorrow.

Now for the pics.....

Well my yaupon holly is still living....

Putting it in the ground seems to have worked....I really think they were just not getting enough water.

First smoke....

Two chicken halves....took 3 1/2 hours....The new charcoal basket is kickass. Chicken was nice and juicy. Not bad for my first attempt.

Here is our haul from today Dixie Hwy Yard sale trip....

Yep we brought back a truck load. Best buy of the day was an Oklahoma Joe's smoker.....Couldn't pass it up...Brand new in the box $200.  It took about 2 hours to put it together....Getting it out of the truck was a chore it's very heavy. It's not the best but it's better than your typical gas grill and should last longer as well.

Should I wait on the black ones.....?

I've had my eye on a new set of toolboxes for awhile now....Once Harbor Freight brought out their new series 2 sets that are 4" deeper I pretty much had my mind made up on the brand. Now it looks like I will have to pick a color as well. It looks like they are going to come in black, blue and the standard red.

First test drive since all the winter work....

Pulled her out of the shop today for a test spin....The carb was still leaking....Tightened up the fittings just a little more and no leak. It ran fine and the rockers are not clicking at all. I'll take her for another spin next Saturday to see if the new valve seals have stopped the smoking. I took a couple pics after she was back in the driveway.

Finally got my winter projects finished up....

Well close anyway....It took some trial and error to find valve seals that fit....I bought some adjustable ones that fit good...Time will tell if these will fix the smoking on start-up. I put a set of Fel-Pro 1628 valve cover gaskets on to replace the leaky cork gaskets that were on it. The old cover bolts were too short and finding longer ones was harder than I thought it would be. I needed 1/4-20 1 1/8" long flange bolts with 3/8 hex heads. I didn't want to use the serrated ones and most of them have a 9/16" flair dia....Well guess what I found that worked perfectly....? Good old Briggs 5hp side cover bolts.

Got the rubber fuel line replaced with the proper steel one....I didn't go with stainless and so far it doesn't leak....But I have only cranked the motor over to bring the gas back to the carb.
